Being a total advocate of art having a place in the business community,I wanted to offer evidence and also,the opportunity to perhaps discuss having my own particular artwork in an office environment as an experiment.

There are so many drab,grey depressing office environments that staff have to endure throughout their working days.
This has been proved through scientific research and also shown to have an amazing effect on the mind by beautifying the workplace.

Certain colours will draw our attention,if we focus on an artwork we really like or,associate with,it releases the pleasure chemical within the brain.
it brings wellbeing and has been said to offer similar emotions to looking at a loved one.

The colour Red is the most vibrant of all the colours. It stimulates the adrenal gland and the neurons. This color is ideal to wear for a walk or exercise as it is an invigorating colour.
Have you ever wondered why Smiley is yellow? The reason is that yellow helps to release a chemical in the brain called Serotonin, essential for causing a happy mood.
If you want some creative juices spilling out of your mind then get exposed to the color Blue. It is believed to have a soothing effect on human mind as it helps to produce some calming chemicals in the brain.However too much exposure to this color may cause depression. Blue is used a lot in cooperate sector as it denotes loyalty.

Art has something else to offer other than the visual.

I am very fortunate to have an exhibition running live at Milton Keynes Central Library until January 2nd 2016.

The event space is the perfect area being 100 square feet  having white walls and diffused lighting.An artists dream place.

Because it is a public place anyone and everyone has access daily within library hours.

I have had a great preview night and many visitors during the period it has been on show.

Three artists are exhibiting,Len Gifford with some beautiful figurative sculptures and Ricky Keech a master glass blower with lovely  glass creations.

As you would expect there have been many different remarks and opinions voiced while I have been there.i stay for around 2-3 hours daily as a part of my commitment.

Some folks step in the room and immediately step out,almost as it is a no go area with hazard signs. Mum and toddlers have loved and touched the sculptures which is a delight to see and remember.

I have had near homeless people gaze and express their lives through the paintings,two ladies with macular degeneration have been able to touch and feel the contours and texture ,that episode touched me deeply.

They were delighted to be led around the works and could read the titles fairly well. Note to self remember to keep that fonts and size as they are for the future.

Only this week a young disabled woman became totally animated over the colours and subject matter of some of my work.

Art has that ability to reach deep into lives and hearts if only for a moment.Have I sold any paintings yet? No, but in some way I have already accomplished what I set out to achieve.

The artwork has spoken for us,it has a life that brings hope and an excitement to someone,perhaps at a  sad or difficult time.

I feel gratified,satisfied and humbled all at the same time.Don’t give up creating -ever!

Trust Close Up

we went to tidy up the grave of grandparents last weekend.it was a lovely sunny day and plenty going on in the graveyard.A large gathering were holding a memorial service with an orthodox priest with smells and bells,they sang too.Beautiful sounds that joined the birdsong.
Across the way was a traditional gypsy celebration of someones’ life,hundreds of flowers in many shapes including a horses head and a photo of his dog.Colourful with a small gypsy caravan on site.
Further down the track,a simple small wooden cross in the ground with a single spray of carnations.Good to remember a life with flowers.

Here in the UK we have had a national election with some surprising results.

What became obvious throughout the last days of the political campaigns was the absolute ridiculous antics of the parties concerned.It makes me question who on earth thinks up these photo opportunities and why would you allow yourself to be involved in such idiocy?

We have had leaders in high Viz jackets pretending to lay bricks etc pizza making, etc.A 2 metre slab of stone engraved with pledges.I have even had email invitations to donate to stand a chance of dinner with Hugh Grant?

My point is who writes the speeches? Who advises these so called, could be national leaders? The political election system has become a spin off from a show biz game show! Worse, it is now a media circus.

Are the media in control of our future politics?

When we allow the armies of advisors,assistants and spin doctors to influence  communications to the public,the people are immediately aware.WE KNOW ALREADY OK!

This is yet another episode to try to make everything look better and to placate a hungry for truth and reality nation.
It has never worked.

At least it will be the end of the abhorrent practise of using primary school children to show how lovely and family minded they all are…

We all long for reality from our political leadership.Has it always,but always to be a media organised session.Are you all so insecure as to need that constant,pat on the back and look at how well we are all doing,photo opportunity.

Wouldn’t it be awesome for a number them to go and help someone,to clean up something without being the centre of attention  for once.

There are so many unsung heroes in our communities who ask for nothing,neither privilege nor fame.
Spontaneous acts of kindness by strangers is remembered a lot longer than a speech or politically charged fame opportunity.

Wake up and grow up.

Landscape at Wheatcroft

We spent a few days away with family in Derbyshire,a county that I have no knowledge.To my delight I found it to be a stunning naturally unspoilt area with incredible large landscape.
Where have I been for so long to miss this gem? For goodness sake! We only live a couple of hours away!
England as a country has so many beautiful places,so many gorgeous hideaways.
We have travelled from Northumberland,amazing beaches to Cornwall,amazing beaches!
We have so much here,I am so thankful to be born in England.
Having travelled and lived in Europe,Canada and USA i have reached the conclusion that we have some of the greatest countryside in the world.

Most of the brushstrokes are under the foreground but they are essential to the finished work.
